GIFT WRAPPING

The Art of Furoshiki

Furoshiki is the Japanese tradition of wrapping and carrying things with a simple square of cloth. Beautiful, practical and wonderfully versatile, a single piece of fabric can become a gift wrap, a bag, a bottle wrap or something entirely your own.

Our cotton wraps are inspired by this timeless Japanese practice, designed to be tied, untied and used again and again. A more thoughtful way to wrap, give and reuse.

About Us

Cotton & Washi began with three years living in Tokyo, a chapter that changed the way I looked at everyday life.

In Japan, I discovered a way of living where the smallest things can be thoughtfully chosen. A pen, a notebook, a cloth, a little object you carry every day. Useful things can also be beautiful, personal and a pleasure to use. That idea became the heart of Cotton & Washi.

Inspired by Japanese Zakka, the world of everyday goods, small discoveries and useful objects, we curate and create things that bring a little more thoughtfulness to the everyday. From our reusable cotton wraps and handmade notebooks to Japanese stationery, lifestyle finds and our wearable Everyday Stacks, everything is chosen with purpose and a love of the small details.

Cotton & Washi is a little piece of modern Tokyo, brought home to the UK.

Some things are made by us. Some are carefully sourced from Japan. Others are inspired by the way Japan approaches everyday living: compact, considered, practical and quietly beautiful.

Alongside our objects, we create experiences that invite you to make, discover and connect with Japanese culture, from furoshiki wrapping and kintsugi to hands-on workshops and seasonal events.

Ultimately, Cotton & Washi is about the things we use every day, and the feeling they can create.

Useful things. Beautiful things. Little things that make everyday life feel a bit more yours.

Welcome to Cotton & Washi.

With love,
Saya
